Welcome to the Web Portfolio of John Van Ness
This site contains pictures of most of my paintings
painted from 1999 to the present. The inspiration for my
paintings come from many places; including Caddo Lake, The Big
Thicket, and the tsunami; and many artists; including Picasso,
Cezanne, Kupka, Matisse, Kandinsky, Klee, and David Bates. I have painted all my life,
but only became a full-time artist after retiring as Professor of
Mathematical Sciences at the University of Texas at Dallas.
A brief Vita and an Artist's Statement are included.
Please feel free to contact me. Contact information
is in the Vita and there is a feedback page at the end of the site.
